What a crazy week it's been ... snow days in Charlotte, NC! I did work from home Wednesday and Thursday, the roads were just heinous, and I have to say there's no better way to get your work done than to be at your own little casita. I had the fireplace going, decaf lattes just mere steps away, and a sweet dawg to keep me company.
Speaking of that dog, as you are reading this he is about to get ready for surgery. Please send very good vibes his way. We are all quite nervous and I have received the sweetest emails, calls, texts, and blog/Instagram comments telling me that he is in everyone's thoughts. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Five On Friday, here we go!

A snow day lunch calls for comfort food. Ian was home too, so I whipped up a quick lunch for us to enjoy together. We had tomato and roasted red pepper soup along with yummy paninis. I used lightly buttered sourdough bread, turkey, cheddar, very thin green apple slices, and a smear of strawberry jam. Delish.
(This was the first time I've eaten deli turkey since becoming pregnant ... I heeded my doc's advice and microwaved it until steaming before adding to the sandwich and making it into a panini. Simple!)

After wrapping up work yesterday, we took a neighborhood walk together, easily the highlight of the day!

... and the best part of the walk is that it led us to our friends! A street in our neighborhood had a little impromptu "party" going on. One of the dads blocked the street with his car so the kids could play safely and sled down the hill. The adults just hung around together and chatted. They even had a firepit out for everyone to stand around! We met so many great new neighbors and also got to hang with some of our best friends (like these gals below).

You know I say that I am married to the funniest guy I have ever known. Seriously, I truly think Ian is the most hilarious person I've ever met. Well, not too long ago he ordered an abominable snowman costume. Why? I'm not entirely sure. Regardless ... he decided on Wednesday that he would get dressed up in it and walk around the neighborhood, heading to the backyard of our friends to surprise/scare them. And that is what he did. If only I could be in the cars of those that passed him on the street ... I would love to hear what they had to say!
An abominable snowman with a road toddy for the walk and a cooler slung over his shoulder.
Naturally.
