The Original 5 Hit The Fair

For many years now, our original family of five always has been joined by guy companions ... boyfriends, fiances, husbands.  And that's a great thing, but there is something to be said about times when we can all get together as just the five of us.

This past weekend, I hopped in the car and drove down to Columbia.  After spending the day doing some shopping with Mom and the sisters, my family went to the SC state fair together.  This is something we always did as a family when we were all little girls.  Fiske fries covered in vinegar, petting the animals, visiting the exhibits, riding the rides, and of course -- leaving with an elephant ear.  We did all of that on Saturday night, minus the rides ... there's no way this girl is getting on a roller coaster.

And the highlight this year for me?  The fried mushrooms!  As a former mushroom-hater, I never thought I would utter those words.  But in the past year or so, I've developed a love for them -- who would have thought?!
